Xakanaxa Camp offers accommodation for 24 guests is in twelve spacious and tastefully furnished tents with twin or double beds and en-suite showers, hand basins and toilet facilities. Situated on the fringes of the lagoon, each tented suite has a private viewing deck with comfortable loungers. In camp, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere together with personalized and caring service evokes a feeling of coming home. The camp is set on raised wooden platforms under the shade of towering trees. Location Of Xakanaxa Camp
Located in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, the camp is set on the banks of the pristine Khwai River that overlooks the Xakanaxa Lagoon. Designed with respect for its idyllic location, Xakanaxa Camp is a tranquil oasis crafted from natural materials that ensure a seamless flow with the surrounding environment.
Safari Experience At Xakanaxa Camp
The ancient riverine forests, open savannah, serpentine channels as well as seasonal floodplains which surround the camp, make for a varied habitat of exceptional fauna and flora. The camp is one of few in Moremi Game Reserve offering a year-round land and water game viewing experience in open land rovers, powerboats or dug-out canoe known locally as mokoro. The diverse habitat ensures prolific sightings of Elephant, Buffalo, Wild Dog, Hyena, Giraffe, Hippo, Sable Antelope, Wildebeest, Kudu, Lechwe, Sitatunga, Lion, Leopard and Cheetah, amongst others. Birding is spectacular, especially in the spring and summer months when the migrants are breeding. Safari activities are conducted by licensed guides eager to share their in-depth knowledge and treasured secrets of this great wilderness.

Activities At Xakanaxa Camp
Daily camp activities follow a rhythmic pattern in harmony with nature. Generally guests enjoy a light breakfast of coffee, tea, fruit juices, cereals, muffins and fresh fruit just before dawn and then set off on extensive safari drives, boat or mokoro outings. Upon returning to camp three or four hours later, its time for a scrumptious brunch, including a selection of breakfast and lunch dishes. Siesta is followed by high tea before guests set off again on a safari activity that returns to camp approximately half an hour after sunset. A chance to freshen up is followed by pre-dinner cocktails and snacks, dinner and coffee and liqueurs on the fire-deck.
Activities Include:
- Game drives in open Land Rovers. (Four 10 seater Land Rovers are available. However only 6/8 guests are accommodated per vehicle)
- Water game viewing in mokoros in conjunction with powerboat exploration of the Okavango. This activity is of a 30-minute duration and is done in conjunction with a powerboat exploration of the Okavango. (Four mokoro each seating two guests)
- Power boating available year round (Three x 8-seater boats)
- The Moremi Game Reserve regulations do not currently permit any of the following activities: Off-road driving, night drives, walking safaris, fishing
